The main scientific areas of work of the department are the study of pathogenetic mechanisms of heterogeneity of diabetes, the study of the peculiarities of the evolution of its individual forms; determination of the role of heredity, autoimmunity and environmental factors in the polymorphism of diabetes mellitus and in the formation of its combined forms with thyropathies; creation of patterns of inheritance and complexes of genetic markers of predisposition to endocrine pathologies; development of modern technologies for prediction, prevention and treatment of various forms of endocrinopathies and their complications; work on early detection of diabetes mellitus in people at risk.
