of Thyroid Diseases (hereinafter referred to as the Center):
Ultrasound examination (US) of the thyroid gland (TH) and neck organs;
Interventional examination of thyroid neoplasms (biopsy) with subsequent cytological (histological) determination of thyroid diseases;
Consultations of leading specialists: Doctors and Candidates of Medical Sciences, Endocrinologist Surgeons, Endocrinologists, Ultrasound Diagnostic Doctors.
Features of ultrasound examination of the thyroid gland at the Center:
Ultrasound is performed by both professional ultrasound doctors and endocrinologist surgeons with many years of experience in surgical intervention on the neck organs. According to international studies, it is believed that thyroid ultrasound performed by an endocrinologist surgeon (SUS - Surgeon-operated UltraSound) is more diagnostically accurate than examination by an ultrasound doctor (RUS - Radiologist-operated UltraSound);
use of expert-class ultrasound devices;
the examination necessarily includes ultrasound examination of the lymph nodes of the neck and vocal folds;
if thyroid pathology is detected according to ultrasound data, the doctor determines the tactics of further examination and treatment in accordance with modern world clinical recommendations;
Ultrasound is performed according to the modern ultrasound classification of thyroid nodular pathology ACR TI-RADS (USA, 2017), which provides the most effective stratification of the malignancy of thyroid neoplasms and determines the indications for fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB).
Features of interventional diagnostics of thyroid diseases at the Center:
FNAB of thyroid nodules is the main method for diagnosing thyroid cancer. Puncture of the thyroid nodule and subsequent examination of cytological preparations allows you to determine the morphological type of pathology and formulate recommendations for further treatment of the patient;
The results of cytological examination are determined according to the TBSRTC classification (The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology, National Cancer Institute of the USA, 2007–2017), which makes it possible to formulate cytological conclusions in unambiguous and clinically significant terms;
In some cases, as a rule, with uninformative or uncertain results of TAPB, CNB (Core Needle Biopsy) is used, which significantly improves diagnostic accuracy by obtaining a tissue sample of the thyroid neoplasm for further histological (immunohistochemical) examination. To determine the treatment tactics, the Center's specialists must conduct a thorough analysis of the comprehensive examination of patients (results of the combined use of the ACR TI-RADS and TBSRTC classification systems, laboratory and clinical data), which provides the most accurate individual forecasts in cases of malignancy of the studied nodes (up to 95%), or their benignity (up to 98%).
